Production: CULTURESPACES DIGITAL® / Realisation: Organ’Phantom

With ‘Anitya’, the Bordeaux collective Organ’Phantom retraces the history of the submarine base. This work explores the various periods in the site’s history, which was initially overshadowed by the Occupation and military industry, abandoned, and then brought back to life as a cultural venue.

‘Anitya’ is a journey from the past to the present: visitors are initially immersed in a seabed and then explore the interior of a U-Boat: pipes, casing, and valves swirl around and are taken apart to the rhythm of machines in a frenzy of graphics, and are replaced by the submarine base, which is uninhabited and devoid of human activity. Images of nature appear and the building comes to life.
