Protect the Wonders of the deep sea

In collaboration with Greenpeace

Co-production : Culturespaces Studio and Greenpeace
Animation and sound design : Redrum

📍  Imp. Brown de Colstoun, 33300 Bordeaux

Starting October 18, 2025

In collaboration with Greenpeace, Bassins des Lumières presents Ocean, an immersive experience in the underwater world, alongside a unique immersive experience in the Cube space. Already unveiled at Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam, where it was met with great enthusiasm, it can now be discovered for the first time in France.

More than 70% of the oceans remain unexplored. Beneath the surface, an almost unknown underwater universe reveals a mysterious and fascinating world. During this experience, accompany MILA, a small underwater robot, on a journey to the depths where bioluminescent jellyfish, anglerfish, and Dumbo octopuses live.

This immersive experience transports you to a fragile and discreet world, whose ancient beauty reminds us of the importance of respecting it. Today, this balance is seriously threatened by industrial-scale deep-sea mining projects. Les Bassins des Lumières aims to shed light on this little-known reality, to raise awareness and encourage respect for an ecosystem whose balance is vital, also for our future. As part of this partnership, Les Bassins des Lumières also invites you to support Greenpeace by making a donation when you purchase your ticket.

50 Years of Ocean Protection

The oceans have been at the heart of Greenpeace's missions since the organization was founded more than 50 years ago. From fighting the slaughter of whales and seals to denouncing plastic pollution and industrial overfishing, Greenpeace has always played a key role in preserving marine life. The oceans are the lifeblood of our planet, and the climate, humanity, and all living things depend on their health. But decades of industrial fishing, pollution, and oil and gas drilling have plunged these marine ecosystems into an unprecedented crisis.

Today, a new threat looms: seabed mining, which endangers ecosystems that have been preserved until now. This emerging industry could irreversibly disrupt the largest ecosystem on our planet. Alongside millions of people around the world, Greenpeace is calling on governments to adopt a moratorium on seabed mining.

With this new immersive experience in the heart of the oceans, Bassins des Lumières and Greenpeace are making the hidden wonders of the deep sea accessible to the general public.
